Hand Lettered Fall Tee with HTV
Fall is here and this season is all about being cozy! I love having a soft tee under a sweater that I add or subtract depending on the weather outside. A soft tee is a staple this time of year, and I’ve got the cutest design to add a bit of fun!
Grab your favorite warm beverage and follow the simple steps below. I promise you can do it!
You’ll need:
· Blank tee
· Cutting machine (I have this one)
· Iron or Heat Press
Step One: Design
Upload your design (you can grab it here!) into Design Space and resize it to fit the tee. This particular design is really long and tall, so I’ll size it down to 11” tall and 6.5” wide just to make sure it fits on my cutting mat and my tee.
Click the green “Make it” button and then on the next page, select “Mirror”.
This flips the image so that it can be ironed on!
Step Two: Cut
Place your heat transfer vinyl on the cutting mat with the shiny side facing down. Load the mat into your machine. Press start & watch the magic happen!
Step Three: Weed
Use the weeding tool to remove the extra vinyl from around the cut images. Make sure to remove all the tiny pieces from inside the letters.
Step Four: Iron On
I use a Power Heat Press (you can find one here) for this, but you can also use a hand-held laundry iron that you have on hand.
Center your design on the shirt. Place a teflon sheet or thin towel on top of your design. Use the hot iron or heat press to place firm steady pressure for 15-20 seconds.
Repeat this step once or twice more. You’ll know the vinyl is embedded in the fabric when you can see the fibers in the texture of the vinyl. This will ensure your design lasts!
Once cool, remove the thin carrier sheet to reveal your design!
